THE PINK BEACH – TANGSI BEACH

DSC_0404

Have you ever heard about the Pink beach in Lombok? I’m sure that if you have seen pictures of it, you have asked yourself if the photos were real or photo-shopped :D! That was the first question that came to my mind when I saw the pictures on Google and Instagram.

Today I will end my series of Indonesia travel pictures with the pink beach of Lombok, or as locals call it Tangsi beach. In my last day in Lombok I wanted to visit the Pink beach. The question was how to get to this Pink beach?

This post might be helpful for those who would like to visit this special beach, because it is a hard to find place. Let me tell you guys how you can find this Pinky sandy beach.

Right after enjoying our last banana pancakes in our hotel, we packed all our bags and left Kuta Lombok to start a new adventure. Tangsi Beach is quite far from the main city of Lombok, Mataram. It’s around 3 hours before actually arriving at Tangsi. Although it’s quite far, but I would really recommend you visit this one when you are in Lombok!

We rent a car during our stay in Lombok and it was a good idea because it allowed us to visit many places around. We drove all the way from Mataram. At the beginning is an easy road but  the last 10kms of the road are extremely bad. It wasn’t a road at all, just broken rocks. The way was not well indicated and it was isolated, so there were not many people to ask the way.

We used Google maps and according to it we had arrived :D. We stopped the car because it wasn’t a good road to drive in, and walked for almost 20 min. But guess what!! we ended up in a normal beach. It was a nice one white sandy beach but it wasn’t what I was looking for. I didn’t see any pink there!! Fortunately there were some locals chilling in the beach. I think they were fishermen, we asked them about the Pink beach, then they showed us how to get there. We went back walking (20 min, again) to the car and drove to the spot they told us.

gggg

Once we were there I was quite surprised, “It’s not pink!” was our first reaction. When we saw it for the first time it looked like an usual white sand beach to us, but when we looked closer we could see that it was pink. In fact It’s not a pinky-pink beach it is more peachy pink in color. The closer to the water I went the stronger the pink got. It was so beautiful.

The beach was quiet, which was awesome, and very clean. We parked the car, took our beach essentials, and headed to the sand. Before going to the sand, in the parking there were so many monkeys 😀 If you ever get there, they will try to take your things so you better watch out haha!

There were also so many trees and swings in the beach. It was very sunny, it was a great day for the beach. Our two friends went to swim and do snorkeling and I just stayed there laying next to my fiance, watching the cliffs that surrounded the beach. If you go to the top of the cliffs, you can easily see natural sceneries, feel the fresh shore breeze and enjoy the enchanting sounds of waves.

Then I saw a group of students playing in the water and taking funny photos. They were so happy. Through the way they played and the smile they had on their faces I could see their beautiful souls. I couldn’t resist to go to join them.

They were medical students who went there for vacation. I still remember the name of one of them, which was the one I talked to the most. Her name was Raya, she was a gorgeous girl, with her jeans and her scarf on her head swimming and enjoying the water. I loved talking to them and hearing their stories. They were interesting people. Since that moment I kept playing with them until it was time for us to leave. Before leaving I wanted to have a souvenir with them so I asked a guy to take us a photo all together, I would have loved to stay more with them but I had to go 😦

I had a great experience in Tangsi beach. If you ever get bored of white colored beach sands, visit the pinky beach in Lombok. Ah! I’d like to mention something: you should better bring a sandwich or something with you to eat because there is nothing around.

Finally, I highly recommend you to use the boat option to visit the beach – it is a nice trip, plus you get to use the boat for snorkeling and to see other attractions in the area. The waters are protected so it’s a calm trip. I asked some people about it and I found it a good idea. It’s up to you. If you prefer a car, you can also rent it.

Thank you for reading my post, I hope you enjoyed reading about my Indonesia Travels ❤

  1. The pink beach looks beautiful! I bet many try to venture there, but never find it. Glad you had locals guide you to your destination. I love quite beaches, enjoying it mostly to yourself, but the group of students you met sounded lovely as well.

  2. 3 hours is a long ways away, but at the same time, how many times can you say you were at a pink beach? I’m glad you made the comment about it appearing more pink the closer you got, because I had the same feeling when looking at the pictures. It’s crazy how pink it gets! Btw- I love your suit. It’s so unique! I haven’t seen one like that before 🙂

  3. I recently saw a video of green beach – the sand was all green in color. But a Pink Beach!! Wow. It looks beautiful. All the hassles you faced for reaching this beach were worth it. There must be a reason why this is pink beach – did you get to know that?

  4. that pink beach looks amazing – plus of course makes for some fabulous instagram shots and isn’t that what it’s all about!?! 🙂 With national pink day coming up, this is a great addition to the list of amazing pink things – pink seems to truly rule the roost right now, and that gorgeous beach is no exception – hope the time was as lovely as it looked to be! xx Bee

  5. This is gorgeous! I see what you mean it is a sort of peachy pink sand. 🙂

Have you ever heard of the star beach on Takatomi island in Japan. If you ever want to add that crazy beach to your bucket list it is called “Star Sand Beach” (星砂の浜 Hoshizuna-no-hama). Each grain of sand is a teeny star!
