Acadia National Park

Hello all – here is my weekend in photos! On Friday afternoon, we traveled north to Acadia National Park with 30 students from Harvard Business School – Section H. After the classes finished, we hit the road at 5 pm towards the Park. It took us 5 hours to get there.

We were a big group, so we had to rent three Airbnb houses. We arrived at night, it was dark and we couldn’t see anything. Honestly, it was a bit scary. In the morning, when we woke up everything changed with the sunlight. The house offered many different views: the beach, the lake, and the woods. The house where I stayed was very big and nice.

On Saturday, the plan was to wake up at 4 am to see the sunrise on Cadillac mountain, but unfortunately we were very tired and we canceled the plan. We woke up at 7:30 instead, We drove to the Cadillac Mountain to meet the rest of the group in the big parking.

Once we were together, we entered the park at the Cadillac mountain entrance.

Cadillac Mountain, is the highest and largest mountain in Acadia National. The top of the mountain offers a marvelous view over the surrounding areas. I had a great feeling standing there watching the colorful trees, the sea, the mountains and the islands, everything was so beautiful.

After feeding ours souls with those unusual views, and of course taking pictures, it was time to move to the next spot and hike Champlain Mountain. In that moment we decided to split into groups Because it was an advanced hike, some weren’t able to do it.

My husband was the leader of this hike, so I had to do it. Even though I get a bit of vertigo, I wanted to challenge myself and go for it.

The beginning of the hike was funny and I would say easy, but then after few steps away started the difficult part. I pulled my head up and oups the mountain is vertical, I was like no way!! In that moment I thought about going back down, but then I said if they can do it, I can do it too. I think hiking it in a group also helped. Everyone was motivating and helping the rest.

It was really hard to take pictures, I had to concentrate on the steps I made and look carefully, because some rocks were slippery.

While hiking we enjoyed a lot, first of all the views were incredibly beautiful, the higher you get the nicer it gets, besides that the company was really fun and the weather was awesome, I guess we were so lucky that day was sunny.

The hike took us four to five hours. There was a funny moment, when we made it to the top, or at least this is what we thought. Everyone was relaxed and some were eating their sandwiches, playing games, just chilling. Then, suddenly, we saw people going up and talking about finishing the hike and we were like what!!!!! We packed again our stuff and kept hiking till we arrived to the top this time for real haha!

At that moment came the question how to go back down?! Since it was no way to go back the same way. My husband was looking around and showed us another way which I found more difficult than hiking up,  because I had to make so much effort to keep my body resist to not fall, I had to help with my hands to go down, but it totally worth it, I saw remarkable views.

The next day we literally chilled, it was a non stop rainy day, so we just stayed all day at home, the rest of the group joined us and we made a party at home, played games such as Cards Against Humanity, Beer Pong…..

The third day we went to Bar Harbor town which was one driving hour and a half away from our house. The town is known by good lobsters. We visited the town, had dinner in a restaurant on the sea, and headed back to our Airbnb house. It was our last night there.

In the end it was a great weekend, and also it was nice to meet new people and do activities in a group.

I’m planning to do more hikes, this was my first but not my last.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures ❤
